BENCHMARK ON SUSTAINABILITY PERFORMANCE
EcoVadis is recognised as one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings. The agency assesses the sustainability efforts of more than 90,000 companies across four areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Annually, companies have to answer an extensive questionnaire and provide detailed information about their sustainability practices. Moreover, each answer must be accompanied by supporting evidence, such as documents, reports, and guidelines, to ensure that the submitted information is truthful. It also draws on reports, public relations work and information provided to interest groups such as non-governmental organizations, trade unions and the media.
The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards (Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact, ISO 26000). A scientific committee comprising experts on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and supply chains monitors how the assessments are performed.
Based on how well companies integrate sustainability into their business and management practices, they are awarded medals ranging from bronze to platinum, as well as corresponding scores
