Customer Day 2024: From field to plate
Being close to customers is important to Nordzucker. This year’s Customer Day was an ideal opportunity for direct exchange with them. It took place on 12 September 2024 at the farm of Helmut Bleckwenn, a beet grower and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Under the motto “From field to plate”, around 50 participants from industry and retail came together with Nordzucker employees from the Sales & Marketing division.
This year’s Customer Day, moderated by Steffen Holsten, Head of S&M Western Europe at Nordzucker, was dedicated to the topics of agriculture, production, sustainability and current market conditions. The participants learned about Helmut Bleckwenn’s farm and traditions and visited one of the sugar beet fields near his farm in Schellerten-Garmissen near Hildesheim, Lower Saxony. Here they had the opportunity to see a beet harvester in action and ask questions. “It was a pleasure for me to give our guests an insight into the importance of agriculture for Nordzucker and into the work on our farm,” said Helmut Bleckwenn.
This was followed by a wide range of presentations, including one by Alexander Godow, COO at Nordzucker, who explained the corporate strategy and the necessity of making our plants resilient in the face of challenges such as climate and demographic change. “Sustainability is a central component of our corporate philosophy. Direct dialogue with our customers, such as on Customer Day, helps us to raise awareness of this topic,” explained Volker Diehl, Head of Sales & Marketing at Nordzucker.
