Beet stand mid-July
The rows in the beet fields have closed and the leaves cover the ground. Thanks to good growing conditions, the sugar beets in Finland have also caught up. However, like last year, almost every country lacks water for good growth this year. Especially July and August are now becoming yield-determining.
The first test harvesting takes place at the beginning of August. On the basis of this harvesting and the other two test harvestings, the yield can be estimated much better. Nevertheless, it remains an estimate, as the weather is unpredictable and has a significant influence on the yield. After the aphids could be well controlled in the countries, the first leaf diseases appear in the beet stands. Further monitoring will now determine whether and when the right time has come for treatment against the fungi.
