On March 1, Runi Egholm will take over as plant manager at the Nordzucker’s Uelzen factory in Germany. Egholm succeeds Mathias Boeker, who has held the position since 2015. Boeker will manage strategic projects in the group in future.

On March 1, Mathias Boeker handed over management of the Nordzucker factory in Uelzen to his successor Runi Egholm in a ceremony attended by employees. Mathias Boeker has been working for Nordzucker in Uelzen since 1994, where he initially worked as a plant engineer. Before taking over as factory manager in 2015, he was responsible for an expansion project at the Nordzucker factory in Slovakia. “Mathias Boeker has managed the Uelzen factory very successfully over many years. He brings with him extensive technical experience and is a proven expert in the management of major projects. We are delighted that he will be managing cross-site strategic projects for us in the future”, emphasizes Alexander Godow, COO of Nordzucker.

Runi Egholm is a chemical engineer who has worked for the Nordzucker Group since 2008 and managed the Danish factory in Nakskov from 2014 to 2019. Most recently, as Head of Production Excellence, he was responsible for overarching and coordinating tasks in Operations. “Runi Egholm is characterized by extensive experience in production, maintenance and investment projects. He will bring a fresh perspective and help us to further improve the exchange between our sites – also across national borders”, says Sven Buhrmann, Head of Operations.

Sugar has been produced in Uelzen since 1883. Today, it is Nordzucker’s largest factory in Germany. During the campaign, up to 21,000 tons of beet are processed into sugar there every day. At campaign time, around 340 people are employed in Uelzen – including permanent staff, temporary and campaign workers and 24 apprentices.
